We Have No Issues Reducing The Cost of UTME Form To Even N500 - JAMB

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB has responded to the call by the House of Reps for reduction in the cost of application forms.
Reacting to this, the Board’s Head of Media, Dr Fabian Benjamin, stated that the amount being collected for application forms from those seeking to sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, has not been changed for about 10 years, stressing that the present management of the board has not added N1 to the fee.
He stated that if the Government wants the cost to be reduced, the Board will have no issue with that because since almost what ever is generated is still remitted to the Government; adding that the board under the present Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq has remmitted a large chunk of the money realised from the sale of forms to the government, above what has been the case in the past 30 years.
He however added that even if the cost of application forms is reduced to N1000 or even N500 that it will not make JAMB to compromise the quality of the examination because the quality of an examiation is not a function of money but a function of commitment, dedication, transparency and how committed the staff and management are.
Recall that the House of Reps had yesterday requested the Federal Ministry of Education to direct JAMB to cut down the cost of application forms .

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Sunday said that it had set May 26 for rescheduled Unified Tertiary
Matriculation Examinations (UTME) for more than 12,000 candidates across the country.
The Board’s Head of Media, Dr Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
This category of candidates, he explained, are those whose biometrics were not captured during the initial period of the
UTME in March.
He said: “It would also include those, who are yet to see their results since the end of the examinations in March till date and have not been involved in any form of malpractice.
“It will also include those, who were unable to print out their e-slip before the earlier examinations and those whose
centres were cancelled for suspected malpractices.’’
According to him, “there are centres that were cancelled because of suspicious activities but the board was unable to
identify the actual culprits.
However, he said that those, who were involved and caught in illicit acts and centres where a case of malpractice has been established against them would not partake in the rescheduled examinations.
He advised candidates, who might have fallen into any of the categories qualified for the examination to print their e-slips
from Monday, May 21.

4 Steps To Getting An Amazing Job As A Graduate With 3rd Class Or Pass Grade

The current economic condition in Nigeria has made the job market highly competitive. There are few jobs compared to large number of applicants.
As such, most recruiters have created very stiff requirements for job applications – Maximum of age, NYSC completion, 6 Credits at One Sitting and Minimum of 2.1 class of grade.
It therefore seems that graduates with lower class of grades cannot get jobs.
Highlighted below are steps such graduates can follow to get an amazing job:
1. Humble yourself
I’m not your religious leader and I’m not preaching to you.
This is however, a very great step you must take to start – you must be humble enough to forgive your past, forget your failures, stop blaming your lecturers, accept reality, willing to learn new things from anyone regardless of their age, class or qualification.
2. Assess your passion and capability
There’s a need to assess what you really want to do, what type of job you want and what your capabilities are? Your passion will determine what skills you need to acquire.
3. Search for jobs that place less emphasis on qualification
There are amazing jobs that need your skills and not your qualifications.
Search for these jobs, check the ones that go along with your passion and see what their requirements look like.
4. Get the necessary skills
Having known what they require, do not waste your time, get the needed skills.
If you just graduated, you’re most lucky as you have more time during your NYSC to get these skills. Get the skills, and apply for the jobs.
The End!

JAMB Generates Up To N8.5 billion From Sales of 2018 UTME/DE Forms

A top Official of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has disclosed that the board has generated up to N8.453 billion from the sales of forms in 2018.
This revenue came from payments made by 1,602,762 candidates who registered for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) held across the country in March and from registration fees paid by 135, 670.00 Direct Entry (DE) candidates.
At the moment, it is not certain how much the board will be remmiting to the coffers of the Federal Government. But According to the source, it will be close to last years figure which was N7.8 billion.
The source also disclosed that since the arrival of Is-haq Oloyede, a professor, as registrar, JAMB had ceased to request funding from the federal government for its capital and recurrent expenditures.
When contacted Prof. Oleyede confirmed this but refused to make further comments on it
Dr Fabian Benjamin also confirmed the information. He however stated that since JAMB direct entry registration and JAMB Change of Course and institution are still on and with that, the revenue is likely going to be more that it is at the moment.
